The platform buying guide

Compare conference ticketing platforms

Choose conference ticketing software around the way you sell, the details you need from attendees and what happens at the venue. Compare eight options below, then price the selling window and test the registration flow that your conference needs.

Start with four requirements

01

Your audience

Will registrations come from your own website, speakers and mailing list, or do you need people to discover the event on a marketplace?

Selling from your own website

02

Your registration flow

Write down the details needed for each attendee, group orders, employer invoices, workshop choices and any questions that depend on the ticket selected.

Registration form template

03

Your event-day requirements

Check how multiple entrances, unreliable Wi-Fi, badge printing and session admission will work. A QR scanner alone does not answer all four questions.

Conference check-in guide

04

Your full selling cost

Model ticket tiers, order count and the months you will sell. Include processing, subscriptions and the paid features you need, then check the payout schedule.

Pricing and fee examples

Compare the cost of the same conference

300 general-admission tickets at $299.00: $89,700.00 in sales, spread evenly over 3 billing months. One ticket per order, 300 domestic US card payments, and the organizer absorbs fees. No tax is added to the modeled orders.

Estimated selling cost = platform or plan fees + required add-ons + payment processing.

Both configurations use this same event. Estimates are not provider quotes or a search for every possible discount. Check the selected plans, billing commitments and unpriced requirements below. Sources checked 2026-09-05.

1. Basic ticket sales and check-in

Hosted ticket sales, attendee details and QR check-in. Platform branding is acceptable; no custom domain, reserved seating, badge hardware or paid CRM integration is required. Required add-ons are $0 for this specific setup, not for every event.

2. Own-brand hosted checkout

The same event, plus a custom hosted-checkout domain and removal of the platform logo from the checkout page. This is distinct from embedding checkout on an existing website: Tito Classic, for example, includes a brand-free embedded widget. What each estimate includes

Checkout Page · Scale

No per-ticket fee. Scale plan at $239/month × 3 months. Sales spread evenly; included-volume plan, without overages or feature upgrades.

Your gateway rate: 2.90% of sales + $0.30 per order. No tax or added buyer fees.

Uneven sales, feature requirements and paid-plan overages can change the plan cost.

Own-brand setup: Custom domain and branding removal are included in the modeled Scale plan.

Eventbrite · Standard paid tickets

3.7% + $1.79 per paid ticket, plus 2.9% payment processing. Default payout starts processing three business days after the event. Eligible accounts can schedule pre-event payouts, subject to reserves and caps. Eventbrite Pro email marketing starts at $15/month.

Eventbrite: 2.9% of the buyer-paid order total, with fees absorbed and no tax. No fixed processing charge; gateway inputs do not apply.

Nonprofit discounts, negotiated rates and other payment methods are not modeled.

Own-brand setup: A custom hosted-checkout domain plus platform-logo removal is not priced here. Confirm availability and obtain a complete quote.

Humanitix · Default USD gateway

5% + $1.29 per paid ticket, including processing. Group orders do not reduce the fixed booking charge; a separate Stripe gateway has different pricing.

Included in the USD booking fee. Gateway inputs do not apply.

Nonprofit discounts, negotiated rates and other payment methods are not modeled.

Own-brand setup: Confirm both custom hosted-checkout domain and platform-logo removal with Humanitix. No complete price is assumed.

Luma · Plus · monthly

$69/month × 3 months; one calendar and 0% platform fee. Activate Plus before sales.

Your gateway rate: 2.90% of sales + $0.30 per order. No tax or added buyer fees.

Annual Plus is $708 upfront, not $177 for three months. The 5% plan would cost $4,485 before processing here.

Own-brand setup: A custom Luma URL is not necessarily your own domain or removal of Luma branding. Confirm both requirements and their price.

pretix · Hosted

2.5% of the ticket price excluding tax; $7.48 per ticket after rounding. USD illustration; actual billing is in EUR.

Your gateway rate: 2.90% of sales + $0.30 per order. No tax or added buyer fees.

Self-hosting is a different cost model. Infrastructure, maintenance and support are not free just because the software is.

Own-brand setup: Hosted custom domains are supported, but the standard shop retains subtle branding. Confirm removal and its cost before treating this configuration as equivalent.

RegFox · Standard · Webconnex

$0.99 + 1% per registrant, capped at $4.99 (Standard); $1.99 + 1% capped at $5.99 on Premium and Professional. Badge printing and the attendee app require Premium or Professional, whose paid-registration fee is $1.99 + 1% capped at $5.99. Professional is $499/month billed annually. Entirely free events cost $0.99 per registrant on Standard; comps within paid events are free. Webconnex Payments pays weekly; third-party gateway schedules vary.

Webconnex Payments: 2.9% + $0.30 per order. Gateway inputs do not apply; nonpreferred third-party gateways add 1% and are not modeled.

Premium costs more per registration; Professional also requires an annual subscription. Nonpreferred third-party gateways add 1%.

Own-brand setup: Standard has no page watermark. Its custom domain costs $150/year; the full year is charged for this three-month campaign.

Ticket Tailor · Pay as you go

300 paid general-admission tickets × $0.85. Existing account; introductory free tickets excluded.

Your gateway rate: 2.90% of sales + $0.30 per order. No tax or added buyer fees.

Prepaid credits may cost less. Compare the actual pack purchase, including credits left unused; the lowest advertised unit rate is not assumed.

Own-brand setup: $49/month white label includes the custom domain. Do not also add the $8/month domain-only option.

Tito · Classic

3% per paid ticket (2.5% for eligible charity, community and nonprofit events), capped by the vendor at €25; this USD calculator uses an illustrative $27.50 cap (€1 = $1.10), plus processor fees. Checkout can be embedded with Tito's widget. The vendor cap is €25; the calculator fixes that at $27.50 for illustration rather than using a live exchange rate. No monthly plan. Payments go through the organizer's Stripe or PayPal gateway.

Your gateway rate: 2.90% of sales + $0.30 per order. No tax or added buyer fees.

Nonprofit discounts, negotiated rates and other payment methods are not modeled.

Own-brand setup: The modeled Tito Classic plan no longer supports custom domains. Its embed is an alternative, not the same hosted-domain setup; check Tito Pro separately.

Price the extras your event actually needs

  • Reserved seating: Ticket Tailor adds $0.85 per paid seat reservation on pay-as-you-go: another $255 for 300 seats. Do not add it for general admission. Checkout Page has no native reserved seating; mark it as a missing requirement, not a $0 extra. Seating charges.
  • Badges and attendee apps: RegFox Premium raises the modeled registration fees from $1,194 to $1,494. Badge hardware and supplies need their own budget. Checkout Page requires an external badge workflow. RegFox plans.
  • CRM, email and team access: Ticket Tailor charges for some CRM connections; obtain the integration price instead of assuming $0. Luma Plus includes five admins; extra monthly admin seats are $12 each. Third-party subscriptions may add costs even when a platform integration is included. Ticket Tailor extras · Luma limits and add-ons.
  • Refunds, tax and payment methods: No refund or chargeback volume is assumed. Ticket Tailor retains ticket usage fees on refunds. Taxes on tickets or software fees, automated tax services, currency conversion and international cards can change the bill; add them for your event and jurisdiction. Refund and billing rules.

How to read the cost example

  • Each basic total adds the selected platform plan and its modeled payment processing. Humanitix's default USD fee combines the two. Own-brand totals add only verified charges for that configuration; unknown prices are never treated as zero.
  • The example is 300 orders at $299, with fees absorbed and no tax added. Stripe rates are illustrative for domestic US cards. Eventbrite processing is modeled on that buyer-paid order total; verify the actual breakdown in your event's “How fees work” panel before quoting fees to attendees.
  • Checkout Page's $89,700 sales are evenly spread over three billing periods: $29,900 each. Uneven sales or paid overages can change the bill. Luma uses three monthly Plus payments, not a prorated annual commitment. RegFox's domain fee is charged for the full year.
  • Amounts are estimates rounded at the aggregate line-item level, except pretix's published per-product fee rounding. Actual per-order rounding may differ. Euro-denominated caps and pretix fees are USD illustrations, not live exchange-rate quotes.
  • Nonprofit and negotiated rates, prepaid-pack alternatives, self-hosting, taxes, currency conversion, refunds, chargebacks and optional event services need a separate calculation. The additional-cost checklist explains when to add them.

Choosing conference ticketing software

What is the best conference ticketing platform?
The best fit depends on your registration requirements, audience and budget. Use the comparison to shortlist tools for your needs, then try the actual group order, ticket tiers, refund and check-in workflow you will run. A lower service fee does not compensate for a missing requirement.
Are these the cheapest plans from every provider?
No. The estimates name their selected plans and billing commitments. Luma uses monthly Plus; Ticket Tailor uses pay-as-you-go, not an unverified prepaid rate. Checkout Page uses a plan covering the modeled monthly sales. A real prepaid pack, nonprofit rate, negotiated plan, paid overage or self-hosted setup can change the result.
Do the comparison totals include payment processing and add-ons?
Yes. Basic totals include processing for the stated US-card scenario. Own-brand hosted-checkout totals also include verified charges for a custom domain and platform-logo removal. Humanitix's default USD fee already includes processing, so it is not added again. Unverified configurations have no total. Seating, badge hardware, CRM services, tax and refunds are separate requirements to price for your event.
When should I consider a broader event management system?
Expand your search if ticket sales must share a system with abstract review, accreditation, an attendee networking app, exhibitor management or complex session scheduling. Ask for a demonstration using your event's requirements and compare the complete quote, including onboarding and on-site services.
